Update: In response to the overwhelming response this article has received, I’ve answered as many of the criticisms as possible in a follow-up article.

Video games are becoming an increasingly legitimate form of entertainment, they have adverts for games during primetime TV and the best-selling christmas present are usually video games and consoles. As a fan of the medium I welcome this, more people interested in the medium means more money will be invested in it, which of course means more celebrity voices in games. Final Fantasy 7 Abridged (Part 1)

FADE IN:

EXT. MIDGAR – TRAIN STATION

CLOUD and BARRET enter the STATION in one of the most ICONIC INTRO SEQUENCES that has ever been REMADE for a PS3 TECH DEMO.

CLOUD:

Apparently I’m a serious elite soldier turned mercenary who only cares about cash. I also look fabulous in a silk dress.

BARRET:

I’m the leader of a group of freedom fighters and I have a gun for an arm. This has resulted in me being the butt of several wanking jokes.

They meet up with some OBLIGATORY STAR WARS THROWBACKS outside a REACTOR owned by SHINRA CORPORATION.

BARRET:

I want to save the planet from Shinra, so I’m going to blow up this reactor, and presumably kill hundreds of innocent people in the process.

4 reasons gaming is just like a relationship.

Although the two terms rarely seem to go hand in hand, videogaming in my opinion draws a lot of parallels with starting a relationship. For example meeting a girl is just like discovering a new game, it’s always going to be that one that challenges you, that you will either enjoy for life, or spend late nights fruitlessly exercising your hands to.
